Marcus Roberts – Head of Student Investment & Development Savills UKMarcus has been involved in a number of acquisitions and disposals for clients including Berkeley Group, Quintain, UNITE Plc, Opal and Helical Bar Plc. In addition to his roles within the private sector, Marcus is also actively involved with a number of University backed projects including the University of Southampton and Aspect Education (Kaplan).Recent high projects include:
January 2011 – Acting on behalf of Berkeley First in the turnkey investment sale of 718 bed spaces at The Costume Store, North Acton. Practical completion September 2012. Sold to Knightsbridge Student Housing Limited for in excess of £61m.
January 2011 – acting on behalf of Places for People in the disposal of 446 bed investment for Sidney Webb House, Southwark. Sold to Ahli United Bank for £23.3 million.
July 2011- acting on behalf of Berkeley Homes in the turnkey investment disposal of 314 bed spaces at Dorset House, London Rd, Oxford. Practical completion for September 2012. Sold to Ahli United Bank for an undisclosed sum.
July 2011 – acting for Mortar Developments in the turnkey sale of 350 bed spaces at Caledonian rd, London. Practical completion September 2013. Sold to University College London.
December 2011 – acting on behalf of the University of Reading, advising on the disposal of the residential estate of c4, 300 beds spaces to UPP.
Marcus joined Savills in 2007 as Head of the Student & Residential Investment Team – a team of 13 fee earners whose main focus is on the education and residential investment sector.
During the last 10 years Marcus has acted for a number of different developers and operators in the acquisition of sites and buildings across the UK and Europe. Marcus has acquired or sold in excess of 15,000 bed spaces.
Along with members of the team, Marcus is also involved with a number of universities / colleges advising them on wider accommodation reviews and strategies.
