Alexander Van der Bellen
Alexander Van der Bellen got his PhD in Economics at the University of Innsbruck (1970). He was Research Fellow at the Science Center Berlin from 1972 to 1974. In 1976 he became Associated Professor in Innsbruck, in 1980 Full Professor of Economics at the University of Vienna, where he also was Dean and Vice-Dean, resp., of the School of Social and Economic Sciences from 1990 to 1994.
From 1994 to 2012 he was a Member of Parliament for the Austrian Green Party which he also presided as chairman from 1997 to 2008. Since 2010 he is Commissioner of the City of Vienna for Universities and Research, and in 2012 he left Parliament and joined the Vienna City Council.
